Uganda offers fantastic wildlife viewing year-round, but the dry seasons (June to September and December to February) are generally considered the best times to visit. The landscape is drier, roads are more accessible, and wildlife is easier to spot. However, the rainy seasons (March to May and October to November) offer lush vegetation and fewer crowds.

Uganda is often referred to as the “Pearl of Africa” for good reason. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park are world-renowned for gorilla trekking. Queen Elizabeth National Park offers diverse wildlife, including lions, elephants, hippos, and chimpanzees. Murchison Falls National Park is famous for its dramatic waterfalls and abundant wildlife. Other highlights include Lake Mburo National Park, Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee tracking, and the Rwenzori Mountains.

A typical Uganda safari involves early morning game drives to spot wildlife. You may also have opportunities for boat safaris, chimpanzee trekking, gorilla trekking, and cultural visits. The afternoons often include relaxation, exploring local villages, or additional game drives. Evenings are spent enjoying delicious meals and sharing stories around the campfire.

Pack lightweight, neutral-colored clothing for game drives. Don’t forget a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for gorilla and chimpanzee trekking. Bring a waterproof jacket for potential rain showers.
