Your group will be met by a member of our team at the Dar es Salaam International Airport. We will drive you to your hotel/accommodations for dinner and overnight. The majority of flights arrive in the evening, but if you arrive early you may enjoy a restful day in Tanzania’s largest city, and enjoy the pool or scenery at your hotel. Dinner

After an early breakfast, your group will depart to Ruaha National Park, one of Tanzania’s best-kept secrets. It is a long drive to Ruaha from Dar es Salaam (around 9 hours), but the drive is part of the adventure, with the African countryside unfolding before you and passing main quaint local villages. You will have several rest stops and an opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch along the way. Ruaha is one of the remote parks of Tanzania, which is part of its appeal. Here, guests have a sense of a traditional African safari in a landscape that has been largely unchanged for decades. While other parks experience more development (which of course, impacts the wildlife), Ruaha remains a place ruled by animals and nature. Dinner and overnight at lodge/tented camp in Ruaha. A full day game drive in the fabulous Ruaha National Park. After breakfast, you may start off with a morning walking safari to stretch your legs and feel closer to nature (all walking safaris are with armed rangers and limited to 6 guests, for safety reasons). Or, head to the Ruaha River for a boat tour, and see waterfowl and animals such as crocodiles and hippos that reside in the water. Dinner and overnight at lodge/tented camp in Ruaha. Ask about the possibility of a Night Drive (special permit required) in Ruaha to see nocturnal animals. Full Board

Enjoy your second full-day in Ruaha National Park, with a traditional game drive, or a Bird Watching Safari focused on capturing photos of some of the 500+ species that are found within this amazing park. Or track the wild dog packs that reside in Ruaha. If you didn’t squeeze a boat tour in already, today is a great day to head to the RuahaRiver. Dinner and Overnight at lodge/tented camp. Full Board

After breakfast, your group will head to Mikumi National Park. You should arrive in the early afternoon at the park gate, with a chance to enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, or a hot lunch at your accommodations. Enjoy a half-day safari drive before settling in for the evening. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/tented camp in Mikumi. Full Board

An exciting day with an early morning safari in Mikumi National Park. You will have a chance to see rare animals, such as leopards and cheetahs with a sunrise drive. Return to lodge for hot breakfast and depart for the Nyerere National Park. Although it is a long drive (approx 7 hrs), you will feel as though it is part of the game drive as you travel through wild grasslands and lush forests, with a chance of spotting wildlife roaming outside of the parks in Southern Tanzania. Enjoy a packed lunch along the drive. Arrive at Nyerere National Park for dinner and overnight at lodge/tented camp. Full Board

After breakfast, depart for a full day of safari drives within this beautiful park that is known for herds of elephants, towers of giraffes, and of course, fearsome lions. After lunch (either packed or a hot lunch at the lodge), experience a boat safari on the mighty Rufiji River. You will glide through groups of hippos, crocodiles, and see local villages. Also a wonderful way to see bird life, too. Return to lodge/tented camp. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight at lodge/tented camp. Full Board

After an early breakfast, enjoy a walking safari with a professional guide and an armed ranger. This can be a gentle nature walk, or more of a hike, depending on your preference and adventure-level. Mornings are best for such walks, so you may return to the lodge for a hot lunch and relaxing at the pool. Romantic safaris may add private ‘bush sundowners’ to take in a stunning sunset in nature to the safari tour, at an additional cost. Option to add a village tour on this day for an added cultural experience, or night drive (special permit required). Full Board

Alas, this is the final day of the tour. After a leisurely breakfast, begin the drive back to Dar es Salaam with packed lunch (drive takes approx 5-6 hours, depending on location of lodge). You will either be dropped off at your area-hotel or the airport, depending on your travel plans. Want to add an Island Tour?
