Morning: Hike to Materuni Waterfalls
First, hike to the glacier-fed Materuni Waterfalls (approx 1 – 2.5 hrs) through lush vegetation along the edge of the Mount Kilimanjaro Forest Reserve. It is a moderate hike to one of the highest waterfalls around Kilimanjaro, with adequate places to rest, if needed.
Afternoon: Lunch and Swim at Chemka Hot Springs
After a delicious cultural lunch with a stunning view, head to Chemka Hot Springs.
Spend the afternoon relaxing in the naturally warm waters of Chemka Hot Springs, an oasis approximately 30 min from Moshi town. Choose between a serene experience in the quiet back pool, or the louder fun at the front-end with a rope swing and a deeper pool, for diving. This water is warm and crystal-clear, ideal for an afternoon swim.
