2 Day Longido Trek and Walking Safari

Begin with an early morning departure from Arusha town, driving approximately one hour to Longido.

Longido town sits in the shadow of Longido Mountain. The area is dotted with traditional Maasai bomas.

After a picnic lunch, you may opt to take a leisurely walk to a seasonal waterfall (best in wet season) or to learn Maasai traditions such as beading, dancing and cattle herding.

As the day cools off, take a walking safari, led by a local Maasai to look for giraffes, zebras, gazelles and other wildlife that reside in the area.

Set up camp for the evening and enjoy a star-studded sky, or relax in a comfortable local guest house after eating a traditional Tanzanian meal.

We recommend having an early start this day, with breakfast at 6:00 am.

After, meet with your local mountain guide and drive to the trail head. Begin hiking over large boulders and rocky terrain, and slowly move further into the forest.
Be sure to drink plenty of water and pause for lunch to take in the view.

The entire trek (to the summit and return) is approximately 6-9 hours, depending on your pace and fitness level.

The most thrilling part of this mountain climb is reaching the rocky summit, which requires no technical skills or training, but is an adrenaline-rush, all the same.

Descend back to your guesthouse or camping area for a brief rest. Then drive back to your Arusha accommodations.
