14 Days Best of Kenya and Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Your flight will arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After clearing customs and collecting your baggage, you will be met by a representative of our team and transferred to your comfortable Nairobi-area hotel for dinner and overnight.

Most international flights arrive in the evening or night, but if you do have an earlier flight, please let us know so we can arrange a city tour or museum visit on this first day.

After breakfast, begin your first drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve.

The Masai Mara is a famous area in the Western corner of Kenya that extends into Serengeti National Park.

Your days on safari here will include exciting game drives, tracking big cats such as leopards, cheetahs and lions, and watching the Mara River crossings for the Great Migration (depending on the season).

Enjoy enchanting evenings with stunning sunsets and local entertainment, or relaxing open-air fires in the wilderness of Kenya.

{Full Board}

Option to take 1 hr charter flight into Masai Mara instead of driving. Contact us for more details.

Enjoy your last full day in the incredible Masai Mara, with the option to take an early morning Hot Air Balloon Ride to glide over the landscape and see animals from a bird’s eye view.

You may also venture on a guided Bush Walk, led by a local Masai guide, for a chance to get closer to nature. These walks are a great way to observe plants up close and see animal tracks as you walk through the savanna or grasslands.

Enjoy your final night in Masai Mara, and make sure to take time to look up at the stars after dark; they are truly spectacular, in this secluded area.

{Full Board}

Balloon Rides and Bush Walks have additional fees, please contact us to learn more.

After breakfast, depart from Masai Mara for Nairobi National Park and Animal Orphanage.

You can participate in the ‘Safari Walk’ to stretch your legs, and learn about the Kenya Wildlife Authority’s efforts to protect injured or orphaned animals.

If time allows, visit the open air Masai Market for some souvenir shopping, and try some of Kenya’s famous ‘nyama choma’ (delicious, traditional barbecued goat or beef).

Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Nairobi City.

{Full Board}

Enjoy breakfast in Nairobi, then drive to the famous Amboseli National Park for a half-day drive.

This iconic park is situated near the border to Tanzania and offers incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Have a picnic lunch in the park as you enjoy a game drive.

In the later afternoon, take a nature walk on Observation Hill before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

{Full Board}

Enjoy a morning game drive in Amboseli National Park. Depart in the late afternoon for the Namanga land border and enter into Tanzania.

Continue on to Arusha (approximately a 1.5 hr drive from Namanga) and settle into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

If you arrive early in Arusha, you can visit an art gallery, featuring national artists or visit a glass-blowing social enterprise, which both recycles materials and supports the local community.

Retire to your Arusha-area hotel for dinner and overnight.

{Full Board}

After a leisurely breakfast, begin your drive to Tarangire National Park. This is a beautiful area of Tanzania, and is famous for large herds of elephants.

The park attracts all sorts of animals in the dry season, because of the Tarangire River, which acts as a water source, even during times of drought.

After an exciting game drive, overnight at a lodge inside or just near the national park.

{Full Board}

Enjoy a full day game drive in Tarangire National Park.

Visit the riverbed, and look for lions and leopards prowling in the tall grass along the water’s edge.

Or, watch a family of elephants as they cool off in the swamp. You may see baby elephants splashing water with their trunks.

Or, follow a ‘harem’ of impalas, watch a herd of zebras.

After, return to you lodge for dinner and a beautiful sunset.

{Full Board}

After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park, passing along the Great Rift Valley and through Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Serengeti National Park is arguably the most famous park in Africa, and for good reason: the constant movement of animals, unique ecosystem and large population of predators makes this a legendary area.

You will enter through Ndutu area and continue toward Central Serengeti for dinner and overnight.

Over these two days, you will experience stunning Seronera, learn about the history of Serengeti at the Visitor’s Center, and look for leopards and lions in Lobo Valley.

Return to your accommodations for a hot lunch, or enjoy a packed picnic lunch during your game drive.

In the evening, watch animals such as buffaloes and zebras roaming in the distance, or listen to the roar of lions, which can be heard miles away.

{Full Board}

After breakfast, enjoy a half-day game drive in Serengeti.

In the afternoon, head back into Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The two designated areas connect, and animals move freely about, making the entire drive feel like an extended game drive.

Dinner and overnight at a beautiful lodge in Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

{Full Board}

After, ascend out of the Crater and continue toward Lake Manyara, where you will overnight at hotel with a great view.

{Full Board}

Outstanding tour operator

I can't say enough good things about Bryson and Petit Maasai. Bryson handled our last-minute trip to Tanzania like he'd been working on it for months instead of a handful of days after we connected about a week before our family arrived.

Kilimanjaro With Petit Maasai safaris- 5 stars!!!

We book 7 days Kilimanjaro with Petit Maasai safaris after having the safari with another company and we made it with a brilliant guide to the summit. We took the Lemosho route, starting in the rain forest and approached the camp via various tents campsites.
