13 Day Tanzania Honeymoon Safari Overview

Then, you will go on an exotic beach vacation in Zanzibar to soak up the sun in a tropical setting.

13 Day Tanzania Honeymoon Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to a beautiful lodge in Arusha or Usa River town. The majority of properties we use have swimming pools, lovely gardens or nature walks.
Day 2: Arusha National Park
- canoeing on Momella Lakes
- Horseback riding either within arusha national park or at nearby dolly estate (just 15 minutes drive from the park gate)
Day 3: Full Day At West Kilimanjaro
Remain at Africa Amini Lodge. Options for nature walk, led by Maasai guide, school tour or relaxing by the pool. This lodge also has a sauna and offers spa services.

Day 4: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park for a game drive (approx 3 hrs drive). Tarangire National Park is famous for its ancient baobab trees and large herds of elephants. The Tarangire River attracts animals year-round, making this an ideal location to see herbivores like zebras and gazelles, and their predators, such as lions and cheetahs, in the dry season.
Overnight at a top lodge in the area. Expect superb sunsets and listen to the wildlife around a campfire.

- Sundowners with a view of the National park
Day 5: Tarangire National Park
Day 6: Mto-Wa-Mbu and Karatu Cultural Tour
After breakfast, depart to Mto wa Mbu (approx 1 hr drive) where you may participate in several cultural activities, including cooking class, wood carving and more. There is also an option to tour a craft market and take a village walking tour that passes through rice fields and banana plantations.
Overnight in Mto wa Mbu (forests around Manyara lakefront) or Karatu area (in the green Ngorongoro Highlands). Lodges in these areas have captivating views and swimming pools for your enjoyment.

- Pit Stop to view Tanzanite Museum and shop
- Pit Stop at local art gallery African Galleria
Day 7: Ngorongoro-Central Serengeti
Early morning departure to Ngorongoro Crater for game drive. This is one of the best locations to spot the endangered Black Rhino and prides of Ngorongo’s lions, along with herds upon herds of wildebeests and zebras. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Hippo Pool for a relaxing and fun midday rest. Depart to Serengeti in late afternoon. Overnight at a beautiful lodge in the Serengeti. Plan to stay up a bit later to watch the stars and enjoy a romantic drink.

- Empakai Hike (1-2 hrs trek)
- Stop at OlDuvai Gorge for famous Leakey Excavation site
Day 8: Central Serengeti
Continue wildlife viewing in Serengeti, including Seronera Valley and the famous kjopes.
Optional Add-ons:
- Hot air balloon rides (must be organized well in advance, especially for the months of July and August. Contact us to make arrangements)
- Walking safari (with armed ranger, only available in select locations)
Day 9,10,11: Northern Serengeti - Migration
Continue driving north to reach the Mara River to watch the famous river crossings. There will be no pause to the excitement as massive herds of animals charge through the river, especially with the presence of predators nearby
Serengeti National Park is one of the largest national parks in the world. We recommend 3-5 days for all our tours to truly experience the beauty of this wonder of the world. It is a UNESCO heritage site and a protected area.
Overnight at one of our partner tented lodges. These beautiful properties respect nature and offer incredible services and meals. Enjoy the nightly fires, sip wine under the stars, or catch a dinner performance.
Day 12: Serengeti to Karatu
Day 13: Shopping –Transfer To Airport/Extension To Zanzibar
This final day includes an option to do shopping before transfer to the airport. Options include flying home after a memorable safari experience, or continuing your adventure with a Zanzibar beach extension, which we offer as well.
If you choose to extend your honeymoon with us, it is a quick 1 hr flight to reach the island paradise. Check out our Zanzibar options for activities that include swimming with dolphins, sunset cruises and island-hopping tours.
